Baptism: Ndeye Mati Sall

The past week and a half has been research, research, and more research. It has been frustrating, to say the least. But it's finally coming along. I'll have a lot of work for the next two months, though! I met with a representative of the Ministry of Education as well as a professor at the teacher's college. All I can say is, thank goodness I like reading and hearing about education, because that is all I have been doing.

But, don't worry I haven't been studying too hard. With all of the academic year students back in Dakar this past week, we have been enjoying the abundance of restaurants, and snacks, that Dakar has to offer.

And even better, a baptism!

My host sister Ami gave birth to a beautiful baby girl Sunday February 21st. As is the custom in Islam, the naming ceremony or baptism took place 7 days later. The marabout came to the house in the morning to say the child's name for the first time - Ndeye Mati.
For lunch we ate mutton. Delicious! I love the custom to slaughter a sheep - poor sheep, but darn!, it tastes good.

Pictures to come... if I manage to get my act together sometime.
